The Iron Five

The 05-06 campain started out with a very different Rocket team.  Ben had transfered down to Florida to be a cheerleader.  Many of the unimportant contributors from the previous squad had been run off the team.  The only players that remained were Tony, Kevin, Rocky, Ricky, and Pastor Ben.  Showing his mastery as a recruiter, Rocky brought in Jonas, who quickly established himself as the greatest layup finisher in church league history.  The Kevin to Rocky to Jonas for a layup was born.  Aaron Byerley made his inagural performace opening night, laying his IHSAA eligibility on the line for the greater good.  Even without Aaron, the team was still an improvement on the previous season.
However, the team was about to have serious depth issues.  Pastor Ben retired midseason, leaving the team with only five players.  Each team member stepped up.  Player/Coach Tony Walker began his reign as the league's premier box out artist.  Kevin averaged even more blocks and rebounds.  Rocky shot threes.  Alot.  And they went in.  Alot.  Jonas continued to make wide open layups at an incredible pace.  Perhaps most importantly, Ricky developed his patented 1-0-0-0 press, in which he forced many turnovers and then would famously scream "I see ya baaby!"
After winning the league's regular season title, the team headed into the tournament as the #1 seed.  However, this season would end like the previous.  Cocky McBlack's team swindled their way past First Church of God.  Kevin was called for his 3rd foul with 5 min left in the second half, but the commishenor recorded him for his fifth foul in the official book.  Having to revert to a box zone, the team quickly fell apart.
The team responded by having no mercy on the commish's team, whom they played the next week in a consolation game.  Jonas scored 46, and the Rockets set a church league record that may never be beaten when they won 116-48.
